Updates from Pastor Clarissa
Good evening 5th Avenue Family and Friends,
It has been another week filled with concerns, anxiety, impatience.
More countries are announcing plans to loosen restrictions, including, the United States, India and Malaysia, while Australia will consider easing its lockdown early.
Wisconsin’s extended ‘Safer-at-Home’ order began Friday, lifting some of the restrictions previously put in place on non-essential businesses throughout the state.
The governor’s order allows public libraries, arts and craft stores, and other non-essential businesses to re-open and offer curbside and delivery services. Golf courses are also allowed to open under new guidelines.
Strict social distancing rules and essential travel guidelines remain in place until May 26.
The South East District suffered a great loss as my dear friend and colleague, Rev. Timothy Berlew, pastor, Wauwatosa Avenue United Methodist Church, Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, passed away 30 April 2020. After missing meetings, a caring visit was conducted at the parsonage and he was found in eternal rest.
We extend our prayers and condolences to Pastor Tim’s Mother, Family, and the Wauwatosa Avenue Family. May God grant us grace, that in pain we may find comfort, in sorrow hope, in death resurrection.
Our devotional journey finds us preparing the church’s reentry into our “new normal.” Acts 2:42-47 (The Voice) – The community continually committed themselves to learning what the apostles taught them, gathering for fellowship, breaking bread, and praying. these things can happen even when God’s people do not meet in large groups.
The church that endures will be a church that leaves no one behind. It will be a church that promotes the welfare of all its members as well as its community. This church is where the outside world wants to participate in. Our witness to the world will be known by our actions and our love.
May God richly bless each of you,
Pastor Clarissa and Bro. Martin
