All Saints Sunday
Good morning 5th Avenue Saints,
On this blessed Sunday, we remember the lives and work of 5th Avenue UMC Saints. Historically, the Church has confessed a belief in the “communion of the saints,” which includes not only all living believers, but also all who have gone before us. When we celebrate Holy Communion, we experience the communion of saints, feasting with believers past, present and future. The author of Hebrews 12 reminds us that these saints, a “great cloud of witnesses,” surrounds us and cheers us on. http://www.umcom.org.
On this All Saints Day, we publicly remember, honor and celebrate those who have passed away since All Saints Sunday of 2019. We pay tribute to the impact their lives have had on us. We respectfully call the roll of 5th Avenue Saints:
Ralph Mundinger 11/19/2019
Gordon Covill 11/26/2019
John Roth 12/01/2019
Elaine Gust 01/21/2020
Elaine Britton 03/29/2020
John Koehler 04/01/2020
James Bowerman 04/12/2020
Nancy Mason 04/27/2020
Helen Rilling 05/15/2020
Janice Hartmann 07/04/2020
In addition, we humbly remember that “great cloud of witnesses” which surrounds us; encouraging us; cheering us on. We acknowledge the lives and influences of living saints; those pastors, teachers, family, friends, musicians, and others who, through their daily life, have shown others the Christian walk and faith.
All Saints Sunday, let us give thanks for both the saints in glory and those on earth, who have led us to Jesus. As they have shared the gospel with us, may we add our voices so someone else may hear about the grace and love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Go, blessed ones, to serve God all your days.
Pastor Clarissa
