Following Jesus

In the Methodist Church, "following Jesus" means committing to live as He lived, walking in His footsteps with love, grace, and a heart for others. It involves accepting Jesus not only as Savior but also as Lord, allowing His teachings and example to guide everyday decisions, relationships, and actions. This journey begins with faith and continues through a lifelong process of growing in love for God and neighbor. Following Jesus means practicing spiritual disciplines like prayer, reading Scripture, worship, and participating in the sacraments, which help believers stay connected to Christ and rooted in His mission.

At the heart of following Jesus is the call to live out faith through service, justice, and compassion. Methodists believe that faith without action is incomplete, so following Jesus includes caring for the poor, advocating for the marginalized, forgiving others, and striving to make the world more just and loving. It's not about perfection, but about a sincere desire to grow in holiness, supported by God’s grace and a community of believers. To follow Jesus is to respond to His call, "Come, follow me," with open hearts and willing hands, walking with Him day by day.
