Living like Jesus
In the Methodist Church, "living like Jesus" means striving to reflect His character in every part of life. It's about modeling your thoughts, actions, and relationships after the example Jesus set, showing love, humility, kindness, forgiveness, and a deep concern for others. Living like Jesus isn't just about believing the right things; it’s about embodying those beliefs through how you treat people, especially the poor, the hurting, and the overlooked. It means choosing compassion over judgment, service over selfishness, and grace over resentment.
This way of life is rooted in what Methodists call “practical divinity,” which emphasizes putting faith into action. Living like Jesus involves daily choices to grow in holiness, through prayer, Scripture, worship, and acts of service. It also means being part of a community that encourages and holds one another accountable in love. While no one can live exactly like Jesus, the Methodist tradition teaches that, through God’s grace, we can become more Christ-like over time. It’s a journey of transformation, where we let Jesus shape who we are and how we live, so that His light shines through us in the world.
