Good morning, Church Family and Friends,

Strong, authentic men build strong families, churches and communities. If you want your church to grow and thrive, you must develop strong men.

Though the Bible doesn’t speak of “Father’s Day”, God emphasizes the importance of fathers (and mothers). “Honor your father and mother—which is the first commandment with a promise—that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth” (Ephesians 6:2-3).

Fathers might include anyone serving in that role, including by means of adoption, blended family, extended family care, foster care, and more.

Fathers, sometimes strive for their children’s earthly success and happiness, but their focus should be far more on their eternal home. One main way to help accomplish that is by modeling it, another is through prayer. It’s never too late (until it is), so you can start today even if your children are old enough to receive social security.

Our Father in heaven, thank you for the personal relationship you offer to us and for loving us so much that you sent your Son to pay for our sins. Draw us closer to you, giving us strength and wisdom to follow you, including the commandment to honor our fathers and mothers. Ground us in our own parenting through our healthy relationship with you. In Jesus’s name, we pray, Amen.
